JEDDAH: Patrol police were able to arrest a man who robbed a foreigner on the Riyadh-Qassim Road after shooting him in the leg, police said on Sunday.
A Filipino expatriate in his 30s informed the police that he was robbed by a man driving a Camry at 6 a.m. on Sunday along a branch road near Al-Hissy district, 80 km north of Riyadh.
Police immediately dispatched teams to cover all roads in the area until the suspect was spotted near Al-Hissy district. Police asked him to pull up, but he refused. They then fired in the air to warn him, but this would not stop him either. Police finally had to flatten his car’s tires. The officials did not identify the suspect, but said he was taken to hospital. They said there were reports connecting the man to other robberies.
